Steve King—the notoriously racist congressman from Iowa—has emerged unscathed after he retweeted a neo-Nazi this week.
King tweeted a link to an article posted by Mark Collett, an English white nationalist and admirer of Adolf Hitler. He added the note “Europe is waking up…Will America…in time?”

The tweet is still live.
Republican leadership has remained silent.
Anti-Defamation League Jonathan Greenblatt released a statement condemning King: “Extremely concerning that a sitting Member of Congress felt it appropriate to RT a known anti-Semite & someone associated w/ neo-Nazis,”
The GOP has lurched dangerously far into right-wing extremism, no doubt in part because of Trump’s racist rhetoric and hardline platform. In Illinois, a self-described Nazi won a Republican primary, and scores of other candidates have publicly defended racist attitudes and polices.
