A forthcoming book includes interviews with former Trump advisor and Breitbart CEO Steve Bannon that has sent shockwaves throughout Washington.
Bannon told Michael Wolff – author of the book “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” – that Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with the Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya in Trump Tower was “treasonous.” Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort were also in attendance at the meeting, which was set up by Rob Goldstone. The email exchange leading up to the meeting relayed that Russian authorities were interested in sharing stolen Clinton emails in a show of support for the Trump campaign.
Don Jr. responded: “If it’s what you say I love it.”
“Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad shit, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately,” Bannon told Wolff.
Since the beginning of Trump’s campaign, the radical right-wing Bannon has been an ardent supporter of the now deeply unpopular president. The quotes from Wolff’s book are sure to rattle the Trump Administration.
The book also features Bannon stating that the Mueller investigation is “going to crack Don Jr. like an egg on national TV.”
Bannon appears to be contributing to the legitimacy of the investigation into the Trump campaign, clearly articulating how members of the campaign and current White House staffers likely committed criminal acts.
In more bad news for the Trump Administration, new details have emerged that a source on the inside of the Trump campaign leaked information indicating collusion to the FBI before the agency even reviewed the Steele Dossier.
The next month will be a bumpy one for Trump.
