When the DOJ exposed private messages between FBI agents referring to Trump as an “idiot,” conservative lawmakers threw a fit. Some called for the disbandment of the probe into the Trump campaign’s relationship with Russian authorities, pointing to these texts as a sign of bias.
That was a rich piece of grandstanding coming from Republicans, many of whom have said similarly derisive things of Trump over the past couple of years.
One prominent conservative that has belittled Trump for his intelligence and pathetic narcissism is none other than Breitbart head and former Trump advisor Steve Bannon.
According to a report by Vanity Fair, Bannon purportedly explained to a friend that Trump is “like an 11-year-old child.”
Bannon’s long-term plan to is reshapre the Republican party in his nationalist image. Roy Moore’s loss in Alabama was a huge blow to the Brietbart wing of the GOP, but many Republicans are expecting difficult primaries against viciously far-right candidates in the coming elections.
