While many media outlets continue to mischaracterize the nature of Robert Mueller’s investigation into potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian authorities, each week appears to reveal new details indicating who Mueller’s ultimate target might be: Donald Trump himself.
According to The New York Times, Flynn’s legal advisors informed their counterparts working on behalf of Trump that they would cease sharing information pertaining to the probe. The fact that the two camps had been in communication regarding the investigation had raised eyebrows for potential ethics violations. But considering how long this relationship lasted and the fact that Trump’s allies maintain unusually low ethical standards compared to administrations, this disruption in information sharing could indicate that Flynn s cooperating with the probe.
And if he is, legal analysts are generally arguing that this means that the ultimate target may be Trump.
“[P]rosecutors accept cooperation only if you can provide ‘substantial assistance,” tweeted Preet Bharara.
Other potential targets could include family members Don Jr. and Jared Kushner, or perhaps Jeff Sessions.
