If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the past few months, it’s that people from all walks of life and all sectors are mobilizing for the social good in the wake of the 2016 election. Health professionals are no exception. Recently, Impact Tap connected with Physicians for Social Responsibility Philadelphia during the group’s advocacy training on January 28th. The organization – which has over 50 years experience advocating for public health issues in the political arena – brought together medical students and health professionals to teach them a number of valuable skills designed to help participants increase the impact they make.

PSR’s Dr. Pouné Saberi explained the group’s vision to Impact Tap:

Health professionals are the most trusted voice in society, we believe that legislation of all policies benefit from having the input of a health professional. But health professionals are not trained in how to give their opinions in policy making or even voicing their opinion in general media. We hope to provide a certain set of skills that will empower health professionals and students to seek out more visibility…
